Description
In this lesson, students will investigate “defenders of justice” who fought against racism and changed American attitudes. The lesson suggests drawing on materials about figures like Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Ida B. Wells and William Lloyd Garrison, but this lesson could easily be adapted to focus on figures associated with Oberlin, such as Mary Church Terrell or John Mercer Langston, among others.
