Description

Erected in 1943 in the midst of World War II, the Oberlin War Memorial incorporated the marble tablets removed from an early war memorial that had been dismantled in 1934 in response to strong pacifist sentiment. Tablets on the monument's brick wall list Oberlin's 127 causalties from the Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam.
